China is formulating its first national tourism law, assisted by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
The China National People’s Congress and the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) have requested technical and political support from UNWTO to design its framework for tourism, according to a report in eTurboNews.
The Chinese Government has identified the tourism sector as one if its key development areas and therefore, China will now follow the experience of different UNWTO member countries in implementing national tourism legislation.
The main objective of such a law is to legally define the concept of tourism activity, based on which all tourism components such as policies and demand-and-supply can be addressed both from a political as well as legal perspective.
