Sri Lanka Telecom Group plays leading role in the Deyata Kirula

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the national telecommunication service provider of Sri Lanka, together with SLT Moibtel once again came forward to play a leading role in the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition 2011, in the capacity of Principal Sponsor.

The exhibition which began on February 4 will be held until February 11 to coincide with the 63rd Independence Day.

The Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition, organised by the Government of Sri Lanka is held in Buttala, this  year, in line with the objectives of the Mahinda Chinthana to give priority to the development of rural areas in Sri Lanka. The exhibition heralds significant development in the area such as development of roads and transportation, agriculture, health and education and telecommunication.

As  the Principal Sponsor of the exhibition, SLT will provide the following communications facilities for the exhibition: point to point leased line connectivity and high capacity dedicated data connectivity on the SLT optical fibre and broadband network through SLT ADSL and Wi-Fi technology as well as Mobitel’s 3.5G mobile broadband network; PABX systems for voice communication is also provided. These services have been  provided free of charge for many stalls including those of Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Air Force, Airport and Aviation Services, Ceylon Electricity Board, University of Moratuwa as well as Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA).

The Sri Lanka Telecom Group exhibition stall is located within the area allocated to the Ministry of Telecommunications and IT, and will showcase products and services of the SLT Group. This includes SLT’s high speed broadband services provided through ADSL technology where visitors to the stall will be able to obtain hands-on experience of SLT’s high speed internet services. Visitors get the opportunity to do many things in an online environment including digital art by computer based designing, work online using web based applications and upload image, audio and video files onto web sites through a set of consoles available at the SLT exhibition stall. The company will also showcase its corporate responsibility activities under the theme of ‘preserving heritage for tomorrow’ through our e-brochure services at the SLT Group exhibition stall. SLT Mobitel features products and services such as Mobile Broadband services through its 3.5G network whilst SLT Publications (SLT Rainbow pages) is displaying their electronic directory services. SLT PEOTV is providing visitors with a next generation television viewing experience, through IPTV technology– this includes interactive television, video on demand and time shift TV.
