Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council elects new team

The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council was held on 7 December, 2010 at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

Gomi Senadhira Director-General of Commerce graced the occasion as the chief guest.

Kumara Semage, Chairman of Semage & Company Ltd. was elected as the President of the Council for the year 2010/2011. Semage in his address stated that in the forthcoming year, the Council would work closely with the Polish Embassy in New Delhi and also work towards further strengthening bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Poland.

Nazvi Hassan, Marketing Manager-Exports, Chemanex Adhesives Ltd. and Tufail Salie, Managing Director, Hameed Brothers (Colombo) Ltd. were elected as Vice Presidents.

The following members were elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka-Poland Business Council: S. Deivanayagam, Eswaran Brothers Export Ltd; Henry de Silva, Freight Links International Ltd; S.T.S. Manuwendra, Greenet Plants & Flowers Ltd; Pradeep Daluwatte, Jetwing Travels Ltd; Kavinda Rajapakse, Samson Rubber Industries Ltd; Amal Goonetilleke, Taj Samudra Hotel and Bramwell Smith, Unicel Ltd. 

Ranel Wijesinghe was also invited to the Committee being the Founder President of the Council.

Membership of the Council is open to individuals, partnerships, companies, corporations and other organisations engaged in trade, tourism or services with Poland or engaged in joint ventures with Polish organisations or interested in entering into or promoting trade, tourism, services or joint ventures with Polish organisations. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce acts as the Secretariat.
