Under the guidance of Seylan Bank Chairman Eastman Narangoda, the staff of the bank has organised a number of activities to commemorate the 2,600th Sambuddhatva Jayanti, which falls this Vesak Poya.
The celebrations officially began yesterday (16 May) with ‘Bhakthi Geetha’ by the bank staff at the Head Office premises. Similar ‘Bhakthi Geetha’ programmes will take place at the Gampaha branch at 6:30 p.m. and at the Kadawatha branch at 9:30 p.m. today, 17 May.
A Vesak lantern competition and exhibition will be held at the Head Office car park on 17 and 18 May with the active participation of the different departments and branches of the Seylan Bank. This Vesak lantern competition and exhibition is open for public viewing. Seylan Bank’s Vesak celebrations conclude with an all-night pirith ceremony on Friday, 20 May, at the Head Office followed by an almsgiving the following day, under the guidance of Ven. Galaboda Gnanissara, Chief Incumbent of the Gangarama Temple in Hunupitiya.
