Richardson lights up more CFLs with innovative marcom campaign

Richardson Energy Saving Lamps (CFL) a product marketed and distributed by Richardson Distributors Pvt Ltd recently launched its advertising campaign titled “Bila Mattu Karana Balawatha” – The Giant that reduces Energy. In the face of today’s escalating fuel prices and growing environmental awareness, reducing energy consumption is a top priority. Hence using energy saving lamps, energy efficient electrical system is of paramount importance if one is to ensure a low electricity bill. Richardson with this thought in mind launched its energy saving lamp to provide the Sri Lankan consumers a product that is of value for money and of high quality.

Richardson as a company aims to encourage the local consumers to be a socially responsible corporate citizens by switching to an efficient lighting usage. One of the easiest ways of being energy efficient is controlling ones lighting consumption. An energy efficient lighting system has the ability of saving energy by 40%.  Richardson CFL uses one fifth the power of an incandescent bulb of the equivalent luminous output, resulting in 80% less electricity consumption for the same amount of light.

Richardson Energy Saving Bulbs has obtained Star Ratings from the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA).  The Government Gazette Notification No 1611/10 of 22 July, 2009 was published to stipulate the minimum energy performance standards and appearance of the energy label with the product. Thus all manufacturers, importers and agents of CFL are compelled to follow this regulation. Out of the entire CFL range Richardson has obtained 21 Energy Labels for its CFL Products and conforms to CFL performance grading standards stipulated by the SLSEA. One of the initiatives of the SLESEA is to phase off the GLS bulbs and introduce the CFL & LED bulbs to the market.

The company endorses Sunil Perera of Gypsies as its Brand Ambassador for this initiative and taking the product to the local consumer.

Head of Sales of Richardson Distribution Lalith Pallage stated that “When purchasing a CFL bulb it is always important to be aware of the power it consumes and the light it generates. A Richardson CFL bulb consumes less power than the rated power consumption on the lamp. Apart from the concept of low wattage, the lamp generates the same light output in comparison with a lamp. Technically a CFL generates more light with less electricity, giving ease on electricity bill.”

Richardson CFL bulb can be purchased at selected Cargills, Keells and Arpico outlets and leading hardware and electrical shops around the country, giving its consumers easy access to a quality product.
