A proposal put forward by a councilor to appoint an Attorney General for provinces of Sri Lanka was unanimously passed in the North Central Provincial Council today.
The proposal also suggests the appointment of an agent of the Attorney General to provinces in case of a separate Attorney General cannot be appointed for provinces.
The aim of the proposal is to make it easier and faster to obtain consultation when drafting laws for the provinces.
