Rubber prices went up to a record high again, reaching Rs. 655.00 per Kg at the Colombo Rubber Auction held on Tuesday 25 January 2011, at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

The line that obtained the record price was sold by Shehan Meegama of John Keells Plc and was bought by Almar Trading Company (Pvt) Ltd, one of the largest Rubber exporters in Sri Lanka. It is significant that this line of Latex Crepe 1X, manufactured by Penrith Estate and managed by Pussellawa Plantations Ltd., was the only line to obtain this record price at the auction.
