Bringing forth muscle and style to the Lankan roads, United Motors on Tuesday unveiled the all new Mitsubishi 2011 Montero Sport at a gala launch at the Galadari Colombo.

The new Montero Sport which guarantees unmatched power and a sportier driving experience is an above average performer in the rapidly growing competitive SUV segment of vehicles.

Chief Executive Officer/ Executive Director of United Motors, Chanaka Yatawara stated that with the alluring outlook, technical advancement and environmental superiority of the vehicle, the product launch is perfectly timed to offer the best for the growing market demand. United Motors is the sole distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Sri Lanka and has over 1000 dealers island-wide to promote its business.

Yatawara stated that over the past two years the vision of the company was to offer a spectrum of transport solutions for the customer base. Accordingly, the company has ventured into the sales of SUV from stock diesel vehicles, which was not possible before the tax reductions in June. “We import and supply stock petrol vehicles. However, before the tax reductions import and supply of stock diesel SUV’s was not possible due to the high cost attached and was only done on customer requests. However, with the tax reduction in June 2010, this is now a reality,” Yatawara said.

“What’s exciting is the common rail diesel ducts that are now here for the first time in Sri Lanka. Today the common rail engines perform better than petrol engines and pollute less as well. Fuel consumption is also good and there is said to be a 15 per cent improvement in fuel consumption compared to petrol engines.”

Enthused that the vehicle has been improved both technologically and performance wise, Yatawara claimed that the design and technical inspiration is appropriated from the last Mitsubishi models and the features are multifaceted, equipped with several advanced in-vehicle technology facets.

Mitsubishi 2011 Montero Sport is equipped with a 2.5 litre Inter-Cooler Turbo Diesel common rail engine, improved suspension for a comfortable drive, Anti locking Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Limited Slip Differential (LSD) and four speed automatic transmission. Claiming that the ‘heart of the beast is really beautiful’ it was mentioned that the seats have been designed to give extra comfort and cosiness than previous generation of Sport. Space capacity has been enhanced with safer, comfortable, and adaptable seating.  Sunroof, leather seats and aloy wheels are other additional features.
