National Chamber signs MOU with American Chamber

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AMCHAM) was signed last week.

NCCSL President Asoka Hettigoda and AMCHAM Sri Lanka President Vijaya M.B. Ratnayake signed on behalf of the two organisations respectively. The witnesses to the signing of the MOU were Sujeiva Samaraweera, Hony. Secretary of the NCCSL and Chullantè  Jayasuriya, Executive Director of AMCHAM Sri Lanka.

The MOU paves the way to bring together the members of both Chambers thereby providing an opportunity for the business community to work together for mutual benefits. It was agreed by both parties to jointly promote business between the member companies of the two organisations by developing, encouraging, promoting and protecting the commercial, financial and general business activities between their respective business communities.  

The MOU also initiated exchange of trade and investment information between both organisations regularly for mutual benefits. This will be a new area opened for business promotion between the members of the NCCSL and AMCHAM, spokespersons for the NCCSL and AMCHAM said.

The AMCHAM Sri Lanka is a member of the US Chamber of Commerce, the largest business federation in the United States representing over 3 million companies.  AMCHAM is also a member of the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) an umbrella organisation representing businesses in 27 countries throughout the Asia Pacific Region. The American Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka is a non profit association founded in 1992 having more than 300 leading Sri Lankan and American companies based in Sri Lanka that  are involved in business and investment activities between Sri Lanka and the US.
