NAMAL Board gets two new Directors

The Board of National Asset Management Ltd. (NAMAL) has seen two new appointments recently.

The two are Roshani Cooray, who is the Senior General Manager Sales and Marketing at Lanka Bell and currently Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region Chairperson and C.F. Fernando, who is presently an Independent Non Executive Director at Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka.

Fernando is a Chartered Accountant, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. He also serves as the Chairman of the audit committee and serves on the remuneration committee of the Distilleries.

Among other Board positions are Director of Selinsing PLC and Equity Three (Private) Limited in the Carson Group. Fernando previously served as the Managing Director and as the Chief Executive Officer of the Distilleries, as Senior Accountant at Carson Cumberbatch PLC, and as a Financial Director of the National Lotteries Board.

He was also a former Director of the Coconut Cultivation Board, Chairman of the Low Country Products Association. Fernando is currently a senior trustee of the Ceylonese Rugby and Football Club

Cooray holds Master of Business Administration, University of Bath, United Kingdom, Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, Chartered Institute of Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics and Business Management, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. Prior to Lanka Bell, Cooray served Brown and Company and Suntel Limited.

NAMAL also announced that Ranil de Silva, a Director of the Company and Alternate Director to Damien Fernando, resigned from the Company with effect from 30 September 2010.
