The Cinco de Mayo, a festival of great celebration with Mexican food, Mexican food and more Mexican food, and not forgetting the tequilas and margaritas, will dawn today, 5 May, with authentic Mexican classics, including grilled chicken adobo tacos and tortillas.

“Cinco de Mayo may be more popular in the US than in Mexico,” said Anura Dewapura, General Manager MLH. Dewapura said the MLH gives what people want and brings people together to eat and drink and celebrate cultural pride, which means giving people what they like.

“Cinco de Mayo at MLH will be a grand fiesta, with our signature, fresh-made tableside guacamole, pomegranate margaritas, and Carne Asada.”

For Cinco de Mayo feasting, MLH has assembled a collection of authentic Mexican recipes, with chicken quesadillas, egg Oaxaca Salad, Mexican corn hash, fish taco station, young goat with Mexican style chilli sauce, ceviche station and 24 more items of Mexican food for Rs. 2,900 nett.

As for drinks, try dressing up your margarita with the colours of the Mexican flag, using Midori melon liqueur for the green and watermelon purée for the red. Then hoist a toast to the brave Mexican soldiers who defeated an invading army twice the size of theirs. ¡Viva Mexico!

A total mex-experience continues for kids on 22 May at the Paradise Beach from 3:30 p.m. onwards. Fiesta Mexicana is an evening dedicated to kids to learn about celebration: Cinco de Mayo, Mexican Independence Day, Hispanic Heritage Month are just a few occasions to celebrate with a fiesta.

Celebration is the epitome of Mexican culture, and the games that will be played at the evening are passed down through generations. Both children and adults play these fiesta games, which are considered a family activity as well as educational.

Enjoy this evening with the whole family: Mexican hat dance, crack the pinata and let the real excitement begin, native Mexican kickball, count the chips and Spanish words game are just a few of fun events that will take place. Call 2711430 for further details.
