This shopping festival which has been organized for the first time by outlets at the departure lounge at the BIA in collaboration with the Airport and Aviation Services aims to promote Sri Lanka as a unique shopping destination.
“We are confident that our airport is on par with international airports in the region and as such, having a promotion such as this seasonal bonanza is the first step in a series of seasonal events that we hope to give all passengers traveling through our doors. Tourism has played a excellent part in the growth and development of the country and the airport plays a vital role as it is the first point of arrival to our country and the last place that passengers spend time prior to returning to their respective country. BIA shopping festival, together with Visit Sri Lanka 2011 will be a precursor to an array of events we would initiate at BIA to promote tourism in Sri Lanka,” Wickramasuriya said.
