Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday that the swearing in ceremony of the second presidential term of President Mahinda Rajapaksa would be held in historic Anuradhapura.
The Minister said the second swearing in ceremony will be conducted in a more peaceful and prosperous country than the first swearing in which took place in 2005.
Participating in the press conference the SLFP Treasurer Dullas Alahapperuma said that the ceremony would take place either 18 or 19 of November.
The President was elected for a second term with a 60 percent of votes at an early presidential election held on January 26, 2010.
He will hold the post until the next presidential election scheduled for 2016.
Under the recently introduced 18th Amendment to the Constitution the President will be eligible to contest for a third term.
