Logiventures, the Hayleys Group’s logistic services specialist, has become the first local company in the Portable Cabin industry to obtain the internationally recognised ISO 9001:2008 certification for Quality Management Systems.

The certification by the prestigious UK headquartered Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd. (LRQA) will enable further expansion into quality conscious foreign markets, the company said. At present Logiventures accounts for 80 per cent of the local Portable Cabin market and exports its Convertainer cabins to India, Maldives, Thailand and Africa.

The areas covered by the certification include fabrication of Convertainers to customer requirements, rigging of containers for carriage of garments and liquids, maintenance, repair and resale of freight containers and sale of security seals and holograms, at the Logiventures complex at Welisara.

The certification followed stringent audits by a team of lead auditors from LRQA India, the company said.

“Since our Convertainers most often accommodate people in site offices, workshops, sanitary units and similar applications, quality management systems pertaining to the conversion process are particularly important,” Logiventures General Manager Janitha Jayanetti said.

He said the company expects an increase in local demand as a result of the impending construction boom in the country. The receipt of ISO 9001:2008 certification was therefore timely and would increase the competitiveness of the company’s product offering, Jayanetti added.

A member of Hayleys Advantis, the logistics and transportation arm of the Hayleys Group, Logiventures specialises in the sale and hire of empty containers, cargo handling and transportation, supply of tamper-evident seals and stickers, storage facilities and numerous services related to logistics chains.

Logiventures has to date custom-designed, fabricated, decorated, equipped, furnished and delivered more than 1,000 convertainers for use in Sri Lanka and overseas as accommodation units, medical facilities, multiple shower and toilet units, dormitories, product display units, restaurants, and in one unique instance as a fully equipped bank branch in Nelliady, Jaffna.
