It’s the continuation of a successful journey in 2011 with remarkable turnout of participants that includes local and foreign business communities, Sri Lankan and international brands, involvement of business and professional organisations – message clearly says that the stage is set for a mega event and Jaffna becomes the centre of attention for business once again.
Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services [LECS] a Presidential Award Winning Company, proudly presents the Jaffna International Trade Fair 2011, for the second consecutive year from 21 - 23 January 2011.
Commenting on the 2nd year of the event, Imran Hassan, Director of LECS shared his views. “Although the exhibition in 2010 ended with a high note, with time, people still assumed that Jaffna was not ready for business. But we were amazed with the response for this year’s event with almost 300 stalls booked with more than 90% of them repeating this year. We even had to create a new exhibition area using a bare land which includes stalls, other basic facilities such as toilets working with State Engineering Corporation. In fact the largest dorm in Sri Lanka will be erected in Jaffna for this event.” Participation of National Research and Development Corporation – India, National Small Industries Corporation – India will be an interesting fact while an entire pavilion is reserved for the Kerala business community from India. Apart from the large Indian business gathering for this event participation of Pakistan and Indonesian business community along with many international business delegates will definitely be an encouragement to the Northern peninsula.
Answering to why January was selected for the Fair, Imran explained the smooth climate in Jaffna during this time of the year with people preparing themselves for business after the ‘Thai Pongal’ festival. Even more this was a request by the Jaffna business community.
The event will be the biggest International Event to be held in Jaffna and major support will be given to the businesses in Jaffna with a separate pavilion in the exhibition for Industries in Jaffna. Furthermore, much encouragement and support is extended to the industries in Jaffna by providing them with free stalls for the exhibition by LECS.
The trade fair is organised in collaboration with Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) in association with the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam supported by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau. India as the partner country and the involvement of the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka has remarkable effects on the event.
This year’s event will not only be a huge boost to business within the peninsula but also will reach Vavunia, Mannar, Mullaithivu and Kilinochchi with much enthusiasm from regional business community. With an initiative, LECS provides transport facilities for the members of the Chamber in these regions to visit the exhibition.
This multi-product show will display a variety of product and services from Agriculture, Education, Construction, Automobile, Research and Development, Processed Food, Information and Communication Technology and Apparel. The confidence of the business community is obvious with leading blue chip companies in Sri Lanka such as Diesel and Motor Engineering Plc [DIMO], Ceylon Cold Stores (Elephant House), Nilkamal and Bank of Ceylon joining-in as valuable sponsors for ‘JITF 2011’. While entertainment will be a part of the schedule with daily musical shows professional organisations such as FCCISL, CCIY, Ceylon Institute of Builders are ready for a series of seminars and lectures during this period with the aim of providing proper education and guidance to the business community and the general masses in the North.
This year’s event surly gives an assurance to the people of Jaffna with much anticipated development and that era of prosperity. Offering many facilities with confidence and strength new business opportunities are opened not only in Sri Lanka but also internationally.
