After Miami and Dubai, it’s Malaysian Fashion Week for Kanchana

True to its objective of providing Sri Lankan fashion designers with commercial opportunities in international markets and starting their careers, HSBC Colombo Fashion Week has successful tie-ups with Russian Fashion Week, Miami Fashion Week, Dubai Fashion Festival, Malaysian Fashion Week and Karachi Fashion week that provide platforms for Sri Lankan fashion designers.

Kanchana Thalpawila, one of the best Sri Lankan designers at HSBC Colombo Fashion Week 2010, was selected to show at all of the above fashion weeks, the last one being Malaysian Fashion Week in Kuala Lumpur, which was held from 2-6 November 2010.

Earlier this year Kanchana showcased at Miami Fashion Week and won the emerging designer award. Kanchana came into prominence at Colombo Fashion Week 2009 from then on there was been no stopping the owner of the label KT Brown.

HSBC Colombo Fashion Week has closely worked with designers like Darshi Keerthisena, Fahad Sheriff, Sarani, FH Studio and others to provide opportunities by exposing them to international markets. Colombo Fashion Week is a completely integrated initiative focused on boosting the fashion design industry of Sri Lanka. This is also done by creating opportunities for related craft industries like beeralu and batik.

Every year HSBC Colombo Fashion Week sees in increase in local designer participation, as the new designers see opportunities to further their careers as fashion designers. This would not have been possible without HSBC Colombo Fashion Week.
