When Herbert Cooray agreed to build a hotel for J.M. Maloison in six months, little did he know his life and the face of the tourism industry in Sri Lanka was about to change. He did not imagine that a friendship created over a building contract would lead to changing tides for the county, adding a new travel destination and creating a new dimension in the hospitality trade.
