The number of Mainland Chinese travellers visiting Japan has reached a record high. During the period January to August, 2010, the figure was 1,040,900, with an outstanding growth rate of 58.9% compared to the previous year.

The Japan Travel Agency (Japanese Government) and Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) are encouraged by this result. They are keen on welcoming Chinese travellers to a country that is enjoyable and safe for travel. The Japan Tourism Agency is also trying to further increase Chinese visitor arrivals by launching the ‘Visit Japan Year Autumn Campaign’, which features discount coupons, souvenirs as well as special events held all over Japan.
