Japan Airlines has applied to the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to revise from 1 December 2010 its international cargo fuel surcharge for flights departing from Japan only.

Since 1 April 2009, JAL started adjusting its cargo fuel surcharge levels on a monthly basis by using the one-month average fuel price of Singapore kerosene of the month before last.

As the average fuel price of Singapore kerosene for the month of October in 2010 was US$94.32 per barrel, the benchmark fuel price used for calculation of the fuel surcharge level in June will be within the range of US$90.00 to US$94.99 per barrel.

The international cargo fuel surcharge will therefore increase on long-haul international routes from 80 yen per kg to 87 yen, on medium- haul international routes from 69 yen per kg to 75 yen, and on short-haul routes from 58 yen per kg to 63 yen accordingly.
