To add excitement to departing passengers at the BIA during the Cricket World Cup months, an interactive cricket pitch has been set up at the Airport to test participants’ throwing ability. Passengers who spend/shop at any outlet in the departure lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport would be entitled to test their throwing skills at an interactive net at the departure lounge.

The challenge in this interactive game is to make a perfect throw from a distance of approximately 22 feet to a wicket keepers glove. Successful participants would walk away with Srilanka caps and Srilanka mugs.

This interactive game is organised by Airport and Aviation Services (Srilanka) Ltd with the participation of Alpha Orient Lanka to add excitement to passengers during the ICC world cup months of February and March 2011.

Many international cricket enthusiasts are expected to travel to Sri Lanka to witness the matches played in the country. Srilanka would be proud co -hosts of a number of games in some exciting and new venues including the new Hambantota and Pallekelle stadiums. The ICC world cup is jointly hosted this year by India, Srilanka and Bangladesh.

“Interactive games of this nature to support a national event like the Cricket World Cup, adds excitement among passengers at the Bandaranaike International Airport. In this “Refreshingly Srilanka Visit 2011” year, we hope to improve the ambience at the Airport with such activities for the benefit of international passengers. I would like to thank Alpha Orient Lanka for supporting us on this venture” said Kamal Ratwatte, Deputy Chairman Airport and Aviation Services (Srilanka) Ltd at the inauguration of the interactive net.
