The Joseph Fraser Memorial Hospital made history when Sir William Manning, K.C.M.G., Governor of Ceylon graciously declared the Home open in August 1923.

Since then thousands of medical cases and surgical cases have been treated and hundreds of babies have been born within its walls.

Today the Fraser serves the more discerning clientele who appreciate the unparalleled environment and high standard of personalised general, surgical, medical and maternity care which have earned the Fraser a reputation for excellence.

The Fraser made history again on Monday, 29 November 2010 when it dedicated its new patient wing which includes the operating theatres, labour rooms, high dependency unit and neonatal unit.

The Trustees of the Joseph Fraser Memorial Hospital are Thomas F. Daetwyler, L.C.R. de C. Wijetunge, G.C.B. Wijesinghe, R. S. Tissanayagam, C. F. Fuhrer, V. Manilal Fernando, Trevine S.A. Fernandopulle, Rosemary Samarasinghe and Mahen Dayananda.
