The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) recently conducted an orientation seminar for the Certificate level trainees. Chairman/Chief Executive Director - Durdans Healthcare Group Ajith Tudawe was the Chief Guest at the occasion which was attended by over 350 participants. Held at the ICASL auditorium, the seminar highlighted the importance of practical training – which is an integral part the Institute’s study programme.
The orientation seminar also discussed some of the common issues faced by students and provided them with necessary guidance to sharpen their soft skills which are equally important in today’s context.
The seminar also featured three young aspiring Chartered Accountants, namely Pramitha Ranshika – Manager – PricewaterhouseCoopers, Hiranthi Wijetunga - Technical Manager – ICASL and M. Imraz Iqbal - Finance Manager - Lanka Orix Leasing Company PLC who shared their experience at an interactive presentation. Conducting another interesting session, Travis Roche, Financial Controller - INTERBLOCKS LTD and Toastmaster stressed on the development of soft skills. Sujeewa Rajapakse, Vice President - ICASL and Jagath Perera, Chairman – ICASL Training Committee also addressed the gathering.
The Chartered Accountants stand out in organisations due to their technical competencies and practical know-how instilled in them through the Institute’s study programme, particularly the rigorous practical training that they undergo. ICASL has nearly 1000 training partners covering both public practice and non-public practice sectors. The Institute provides constant assistance to students in order to complete their mandatory training period successfully and carries out various activities to further enhance the standard of ICASL students.
