ICASL conducts highly successful ‘Sisu Nena’ seminar on accounting

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education organised a ‘Sisu Nena’ seminar, which ended on a highly successful note with massive student participation at the Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya recently.

The seminar, which articulated the importance of accounting for advanced level students in the Kelaniya Educational Zone, was conducted by T. Dharmarajah, Chartered Accountant, Council Member of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and ICASL.

During the seminar, Dharmarajah laid emphasis on the Sri Lanka Accounting Standards 19, 29 and 37 comprising in the Advanced Level syllabus. The institute is the sole authority in formulating accounting and auditing standards in Sri Lanka.

The seminar also consisted of a career guidance presentation by Technical Manager – ICASL Anushka Madurasinghe, who is also a past pupil of Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya Kiribathgoda, who became first in the commerce stream at the GCE Advanced Level Examination in 2004.

The seminar was well received by participating students as well as teachers from schools including Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kadawatha Madya MahaVidyalaya, Dharmaloka Vidyalaya, Gurukula Vidyalaya, St. Paul Balika Vidyalaya, Mahamaya Vidyalaya, Kirillawala Maha Vidyalaya, Jayakody Maha Vidyalaya and Henegama Central College.  Bank of Ceylon was the official sponsor of the event.
