The Business School of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) was instrumental in holding a series of corporate meetings recently to educate the country’s corporate sector on forensic accounting.
A series of speeches were delivered related to forensic accounting by Prof. Peter Best, Head of School – Accounting, Economics and Finance from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, who visited Sri Lanka recently.
The ICASL held four separate corporate meetings in Colombo on the knowhow of forensic accounting. The meetings were held separately at the Bank of Ceylon (BoC), MAS Holdings, Commercial Bank and Dialog.
The corporate meetings were well acknowledged by these companies with more than 15 senior officials from Bank of Ceylon being present at the meeting, which included BOC Chairman Gamini Wickramasinghe, Chief Financial Officer Asoka Rupasinghe and Deputy General Manager – International and Treasury H. Weerasekera.
Meanwhile, around 10 officials from MAS Holdings were present at the corporate meeting held at the MAS office in Colombo which was addressed by Prof Best. They included Finance Director (MAS Intimates) Suren Fernando; Director Operations (MAS Capital) Shiromi Rajendra; Group Finance Director (MAS Capital) Sudarshan Ahangama; and General Manager - Group Treasury and Strategic Planning (MAS Capital) Kanishke Mannakkara.
The ICASL efforts were also well received by Commercial Bank with over eight persons being present at the corporate meeting which included the bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Amitha Gooneratne, Head of Finance, P. Indrajith and Chief Financial Officer Nandika Buddhipala.
The corporate meeting on forensic accounting held at the Dialog Office too was well attended with around 30 persons being present at the event.
Prof. Best was in Sri Lanka recently as the Chief Guest for the ICASL’s Business school graduation held recently.
Prof. Best was accompanied by Lorne Gibson, Student Experience Director (Partners) from the Student Management Office. The Institute’s CEO/Secretary Aruna Alwis and Head of Business School Nilukshi Thambimuttu were also present at the meetings.
