hSenid Mobile, provider of next generation cloud messaging and VAS platforms, has been invited to deliver a thought leadership Masterclass at Asia’s largest conference on Service Delivery Platforms (SDP) to be held in Singapore from 26 to 28 October 2010.

The fifth Annual SDP Asia Summit draws a dynamic pool of regional and international experts across the entire telecom service delivery value chain. They will share insights on the evolution of telco-mobile services and the future of service delivery models and crucially the changing nature of the development and marketing of mobile applications.

hSenid Mobile will be conducting the event’s exclusive Masterclass based on ‘SDP in the Cloud: Strategies, Experiences and Business Models for Telcos’. Cloud computing today has made its mark in many areas of ICT and hSenid Mobile presenting at the event led by CEO Dinesh Saparamadu will facilitate an assessment and discussion on how telco SDPs can now embrace the cloud and leveraged for enhanced service delivery.

“The elasticity of the cloud enables telecom operators to move from a Capex based to a scalable Opex model; where operators pay for what they use, scaling their resources according to market conditions, business plans and strategies,” said Saparamadu, on the value propositions it presents to the telecom industry.

“Apart from the obvious investment benefits, cloud SDPs also offer cutting edge service development and roll out capabilities on the fly, accelerating time to market new applications & services. The cloud-based platform allow operators to open up their infrastructure to a wider community of service and application providers, tapping into latent creativity and generating a large pool of innovative services to be constantly rolled out. This enables operators to serve a diverse subscriber base, continuously differentiating services and manage subscriber churn effectively.”

Telecom operators are also facing a revenue generating paradox in the area of mobile applications. Device vendor app stores are set to account for over 80% of a near US$ 30 b by 2013, according to Gartner and operators are expected to have a minimum stake in it.  Losing out on revenue opportunities on app downloads as well as capturing recurring revenue from apps makes operators face the threat of being relegated to mere carrier bit pipes for traditional App stores.

Saparamadu reckons that telco app stores can play a key role in helping operators regain lost ground in the mobile applications market. With operators being able to harness developer communities rolling out telco apps and with intelligent subscriber identity management and targeting capabilities, there is immense potential for the rebirth of the telco app store.

However, will they be able to compete with the traditional app stores and if so what directions will they take in terms of market reach, features, availability and channels? More of this will be laid out at a Panel Discussion that hSenid Mobile will also moderate at the conference with some of the leading players in the telecom industry at the industry dialogue session: ‘Evolution of SDPs – The Telco App. Store to combat Traditional App. Store?’
