Footy time in Sri Lanka

Australian Football or Footy as popularly known  is religion in Australia. Even though Ausie land is a power house in world Sporting arena ,no sport can beat the Footy love of Australian people.

Now many Australians want to see their own Footy is being played all over the world and they use Footy in many ways. Not only to play and win ,they use footy in many important spheres.

Recently General Manager of Culture & Leadership of Australian Football League [AFL] Players Association Dr.Pippa Grange and Prof. Paul James of RMIT University along with Sri Lankan born Australian  Ishika Kawiratne who is the Licensing Category Manager of AFL led an Aussie Footy Team to Sri Lanka on a Reconciliation program.

They met Minister of Internal Trade and Cooperatives and former Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs  of Sri Lanka Johnston Fernando at his office to discuss how to promote Footy in Sri Lanka.

Meeting was arranged by Sri Lankan Sports promoter with International repute Manel Dharmakeerthie who promoted Wushu in South Asia and into South Asian Games for the first time. They discussed to organize an International Footy Festival in Sri Lanka next year and Minister Fernando agreed to give his fullest support to develop Footy here.

International Wushuite Dharmakeerthie is coordinating the program with former Director General of Sports Milton Amarasinghe and they pose for Daily FT photojournalist Indrarathna Balasooriya’s camera with the Minister Fernando and AFL Players Adam Goods, Richard Tambling , Brett Goods, Jonathan Mullens, Brad Sewell, Brett Kirk and Fox Sports cameraman Lincoln Cleak.
