Many projects are being mooted to pave the way for the export of ornamental fish to boost earnings in the Mahaweli Zones.
The Mahaweli Authority has launched the projects with the sponsorship of the Irrigation and Water Resource Management Ministry. Young men and women in these zones have displaying a keen interest in this regard.
They are able to earn a monthly income of about Rs. 50,000. These projects are very successfully implemented at Aralaganwila in the Mahaweli C Zone. Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva inspecting this project said that they had already received orders from a number of countries.
