Sri Lanka’s leading computer hardware distributor eSys Technologies reaffirmed its commitment to the computer hardware industry in the country by strengthening its relationship with the world’s largest electronic OEM manufacturer Foxconn at a media briefing held recently in Colombo.
In Sri Lanka for the occasion was Sales Director, Foxconn Middle East-India-Africa, Anish Rahman.
Foxconn, which is a registered component trademark of the Foxconn Technology Group, is the foremost provider of joint-design, joint-development, manufacturing, assembly and after-sales services to global Computer, Communication and Consumer-electronics (‘3C’) leaders.
eSys Technologies, a part of EZY Holdings, has been successfully distributing Foxconn motherboards since 2010 in Sri Lanka. The company has grown to be Sri Lanka’s leading computer hardware distributor for many global brands such as Intel, Gigabyte Laptops, AOC LCD Monitors, Samsung hard disk drives, optical disk drives, LCD monitors, transcend memory and many more components that make up the day to day computer.
“Foxconn is a renowned brand in the world of technology. Many people know the Foxconn name in association with the manufacturing of Apple products. What people didn’t know was that Foxconn also made its own branded components such as motherboards. When we first partnered with Foxconn, this was a hurdle that we had to overcome. Our dynamic team was able to overcome this challenge within a short period of time and successfully drove Foxconn to be the leading motherboard brand in the country,” eSys Technologies Chief Executive Shafraz Hamzadeen said.
Taiwan-based Foxconn is ranked the largest OEM manufacturer in the world, with a customer base that includes Apple, Sony, Intel, Nokia, HP, Acer and Dell. Apple iPhone, iPad, Sony VAIO systems, Intel motherboards, HP, Acer and Dell machines are all manufactured by Foxconn. Currently the company has more than one million employees worldwide, with annual sales revenue of over US$ 85 billion.
Commenting further on this partnership, Hamzadeen went onto state: “With the strengthening of our relationship, Foxconn motherboards are not the only product we look to distribute on behalf of Foxconn. We intend on providing a diversified product portfolio such as nettops, all-in-one computers, full OEM desktop systems, tablet PCs, 3D LCDs and so on to Sri Lanka’s emerging computer businesses.”
“Foxconn has a strong focus on the Sri Lanka market through our dedicated and exclusive partner – eSys, which is also Foxconn’s key distributor in many other regions. The partnership between Foxconn and eSys counts almost one year; in fact it commenced the day we started our channel business. We believe that eSys understands the needs of the emerging channel partner in Sri Lanka better than anyone else in the country. That is the reason we have entrusted our business to eSys, because we know that it is the best and only true technology distributor in the country. We will continue to offer our support and infrastructure to eSys to help it further strengthen sales,” said Rahman, addressing the media.
Rahaman went on to say that the Channel Service Division (CSD), a business group of Foxconn, provides channel solutions to customers around the globe.

Consequently, it is aggressively innovating itself to deliver solid, honest products that promote simplicity and ease of use, whilst at the same time taking into account the natural, human environment through the entire product lifecycle. Through this philosophy of connecting people and technologies, Foxconn CSD is enabling a large segment of PC assemblers, retailers and end-users the freedom to create their own computing solutions.”
He also said that the Foxconn strategy was not just to have a bunch of products, but to provide total solutions to help their regional partners to enjoy more benefits. Its business philosophy is ‘Time to Market, Time to Volume and Time to Money’.
“Our new strategy in Sri Lanka includes more focus on after sales service, more new products, channel rebate systems through which we will focus on jointly developing the channel partners business prospects and direct vendor interaction. It is our intention to invest over Rs. 50 million to the channel and development activities in Sri Lanka in 2011.”
eSys Technologies, which will be commencing its eighth year in service to the market this month, started its journey in 2003 with a single person office. Since then the company has grown to become a Rs. 2.5 billion organisation with over 300 employees.
“We, along with our vendors whom we represent, believe that we are the only true technology distributor in the Sri Lankan market. This is primarily due to the fact that we strongly believe in distribution ethics and do not impede into the territory of our valued customers, our channel partners. We have channelled most of our efforts into developing the channel for our partners to do their business better. This is what has differentiated us as a value added distributor as opposed to the ordinary product traders,” Hamzadeen said.
With over 10 distribution offices touching close to 1,000 computer partners ranging from small to big, eSys Technologies presently covers the whole of Sri Lanka.
“It is our strength with our channel partners that has undoubtedly helped us be a proud part of every second computer that is assembled in the country today, a feat indeed,” Hamzadeen added.
