Milk is one of the best sources of nutrition, in the world after breast milk. Fresh milk contains nutritional components such as calcium, proteins, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, zinc, vitamin A & B.

Consumption of fresh milk strengthens the immune system and expedites healing of wounds.  It is also essential for the development of strong bones, teeth and muscle.

At a recent interview conducted with a leading paediatrician in Sri Lanka, he noted the importance of fresh milk: “It contains amino acids which are essential to promote growth. Amino acids keep you alert and energetic and are useful in the treatment of sleep disorders, anxiety, depression and pre-menstrual syndrome. Amino acids also enhance memory, concentration, alertness and energy levels.”

Scientific findings indicate that raw milk contains good bacteria like lactobacillus which produce enzymes that breakdown proteins and improves absorption of iron, phosphorous and calcium. The conjugated linolic acid (CLA) – a poly-unsaturated omega 6 fatty acid found in fresh milk also boosts metabolism and helps reduce abdominal fat.

Speaking on the importance of ensuring milk is in your daily diet in some form or the other, Dr. Jagjit Punjrath, founding Managing Director of Cargills Quality Dairies, noted: “It is important to ensure that what you consume as a dairy product does indeed include fresh milk.
