Dubai Trade, the premier trade facilitator under Dubai World, said it has partnered with Emirates SkyCargo to open door to full-scale integration of sea-air freight movement.

The MoU was signed by Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, Group CEO, Dubai World and chairman, Dubai Trade, and Ram Menen, Emirates’ divisional senior vice president cargo, at a brief ceremony in Jebel Ali recently.

The MoU proposes allowing users of Dubai Trade’s portal, www.dubaitrade.ae, to directly access the air freight services of Emirates Sky Cargo through the website, while payment for the services is made directly to the cargo service provider.

Commenting on the deal, Bin Thaniah said, ‘The MoU was a well-targeted initiative that will serve as a stepping stone towards the full-scale integration of sea-air cargo movement and, consequently, to further strengthen the competitive advantage of Dubai as the region’s leading trading hub.’

‘The supply chain industry as a whole will benefit immensely by this strategic move. We congratulate Emirates Sky Cargo and Dubai Trade on signing a far-reaching MoU and wish them success,’ he noted.

The MoU also opens the doors to future integration of the customer database of Emirates Sky Cargo with Dubai Trade’s user database to enable a more seamless supply chain experience, said Bin Thaniah.

Mahmood Al Bastaki, director, Dubai Trade, said, ‘For us it is only a logical step forward to enable our vast community of traders to easily access air cargo services under one roof.’

According to him, Dubai Trade has always played the role of enhancing trade, the most consistent frontline driver of the local economy.

‘We thank Emirates Sky Cargo for placing their trust in our services and we are committed to build on this MoU to achieve total integration of the sea-air supply chain sector,’ he added.

The two sides also discussed other areas of cooperation, to add more value to users of Dubai Trade and Emirates Sky Cargo and to promote each other’s services at key industry events.

Ram Menen said Emirates SkyCargo brings thousands of international trade connections to Dubai every year with its network of 109 destinations in 65 countries.

‘Our partnership with Dubai Trade will not only provide an easy transport link between UAE based businesses and their existing international customers, but it will potentially create new trade lanes for them,’ he added.

Dubai Trade Portal offers a remarkably seamless business flow and has proven to be cost effective for clients using it as the single window that integrates online services of DP World, Economic Zones World, Dubai Customs, and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre.
