Dockyard says working as usual after minor accident

The Colombo Dockyard Plc said yesterday that the huge explosion that occurred yesterday was an industrial accident, caused due to a small gas leak at the lunch break.

The few people who suffered minor injuries were treated at the Company Medical Centre and at the accident service and have gone home.

“The situation is absolutely normal and we continue to work as usual. Being safety conscious and a responsible organisation, we are investigating into the root causes to prevent any recurrence in the future,” Colombo Dockyard CEO and Managing Director Mangala Yapa said.
