M. R. Sundaresan, General Manager Operations of Dell India (Pvt) Ltd, will share his invaluable insights on ‘Supply chain agility: the Dell way’ at the CIMA Technical Symposium to be held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel on 24 November.

He is a diverse business personality accounting for many years of general management experience covering supply chain, manufacturing, information technology and customer services across key industry sectors including consumer products, home appliances and ICT.

Formerly being on the boards of Whirlpool India Ltd and Dell International Services as the Operations Director, he accounts for extensive experience in aligning production systems to cater to changing customer requirements.

Dell’s supply chain strategy is a critical element of its success, as it continues to lead the supply chain ranking being adjudged within the top three companies worldwide.

Sundaresan will discuss how Dell’s supply chain strategy was successful in the past — providing insights and understanding into the innovative ‘direct to customer’ model followed by them. He will deliberate on how the supply chain strategy has been a critical element of Dell’s business transformation in its endeavour to place the customer at the heart of business.  He will examine Dell’s supply chain transformation agenda and how the company is preparing itself for continued change.

A deep understanding of the changing needs of the customer (today and in future) is critical to the design and delivery of the supply chain for a company’s continued success in the rapidly changing environment. While this case study is from the hi-tech industry, there are invaluable lessons to be learnt and applied in a variety of industries.

‘Transformation: the compulsory choice’ is the topical theme of this year’s symposium and will focus on timely and vital business areas such as the impact of globalisation and technological on management accounting, ethics and sustainability, innovative decision-making, business and supply chain agility, finance transformation and leading a knowledge workforce.

The deliberations will be made by eminent local and foreign speakers who have excelled in their chosen fields.
