De Alwis leaves Sampath Bank Board

W.M. Prasantha Lal de Alwis has vacated office from the Board of Directors of Sampath Bank Plc.

The move with effect from 15 January was as per requirement of the Corporate Governance Code of Central Bank of Sri Lanka for Licensed Commercial Banks.

Incidentally de Alwis holds an LL.B, LLM (Colombo), and is an Attorney-at-Law, with a Dip. M.ACIM (UK) and joined the Sampath Bank Board also on 15 January in 2002.

He was the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and member of the HR & Remuneration and Shareholder Relations Committee.

An attorney-at-law since 1983, he was a former State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Department.

He is a Certified National Trainer in Human Resource Management of the Junior Chamber International. Visiting lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo and functioned as advisor to the Minister of Export Development and International Trade.
