Imagine owning a painting that was painstakingly drawn by an elephant of the Dalada Maligawa! Well, that’s among the array of products in SriLankan Airlines’ latest ‘Serendib Treasures’ On-Board Duty Free Collection.
The 42x30 centimetre painting is a masterpiece by the elephant Sindu, who has been trained to wield a paintbrush in his trunk! A limited number are available for sale, each in a colourful canister. SriLankan Airlines has been supporting the worldwide publicity efforts of the Maligawa, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous attractions which is visited by millions every year to pay homage to the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
Among the other items from the Maligawa is a very attractive 124 x 60 centimetre Batik Wall Hanging of the Kandy Esala Perahera. Featuring elephants, drummers, dancers and flag bearers, the wall hanging is of handmade batik with the official emblem of the Maligawa.
These are among the 180 items in Serendib Treasures latest collection, which recently added over 75 new products. They range from perfumes to cosmetics, watches, designer pens, jewellery, and travel accessories.
The entire collection can be seen on-line at www.srilankan.aero and passengers are encouraged to pre-order at least 72 hours in advance to ensure availability of the required product on their flight.
New additions to the fragrances and cosmetics section include Lancome Tresor in Love, Bulgari Women’s Miniature Collection, Jean Paul Gaultier Classic X Collection, Calvin Klein Beauty, Salvatore Ferragama F Miniatures Collection, and Paco Rabanne 1 Million.
The exotic Jewellery section includes the Swarovski Eros Pendant Chain, Hot Diamonds Paradise Pendant Chain, Vivaldi 8-pieces Jewellery Set, and Missaki Pearl Necklace ‘Terra Multi’.
The exciting new watches and pens include the Swiss Military Corporal Gents Watch, Police Chronograph with Dual Time, Timex Ironman Triathlon Sleek 50-lap, and Lambretta Cielo Watch pack in three colours. The expanded range of Travel Accessories includes the Sony Cyber-Shot Camera, Philips Wireless Notebook Mouse with Bluetooth, and Police Aviator Style Sunglasses.
The Memories of Sri Lanka collection includes a sterling silver dressed wooden elephant decorated with gemstones from Laksala and a wooden mask set from Laksala, tea and herbal products. Aviation buffs are in for a treat with the amazing die-cast models of aircraft from Air Ceylon, Air Lanka and SriLankan Airlines in the airline souvenirs and children’s delights section (these are for pre-order sales only).
