Imagine owning a painting that was painstakingly drawn by an elephant of the Dalada Maligawa! Well, that’s among the array of products in SriLankan Airlines’ latest ‘Serendib Treasures’ On-Board Duty Free Collection.
The 42x30 centimetre painting is a masterpiece by the elephant Sindu, who has been trained to wield a paintbrush in his trunk! A limited number are available for sale, each in a colourful canister. SriLankan Airlines has been supporting the worldwide publicity efforts of the Maligawa, one of Sri Lanka’s most famous attractions which is visited by millions every year to pay homage to the sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
Among the other items from the Maligawa is a very attractive 124 x 60 centimetre Batik Wall Hanging of the Kandy Esala Perahera. Featuring elephants, drummers, dancers and flag bearers, the wall hanging is of handmade batik with the official emblem of the Maligawa.
