New kid on the block, Continental Insurance Lanka Ltd., owned by business tycoon Harry Jayawardena-fame Distilleries has announced a revolutionary product which offers motor policy holders a free one year cover.
Branded ‘Continental Insurance Good Driver Plan’ the new policy lets a vehicle owner/driver who maintains an accident free period of one year to enjoy the second year with a policy sans the premium.
“It is one of the latest and most innovative Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives on our part,” a spokesman for Continental Insurance Lanka said adding that the policy is a first of its kind introduced specifically to address the increasing number of road accidents in Sri Lanka. “With Sri Lanka’s general insurance business becoming increasingly competitive, Continental strives to stay ahead by introducing ethical insurance solutions such as the ‘Continental Insurance Good Driver Plan’,” the he added.
“This, one of a kind motor insurance plan aims at encouraging better driving practices and to reward such responsible motorists throughout the country thereby enabling every one of us to feel safe on the roads,” he explained.
At a time when around 30,000 road accidents are recorded each year in Sri Lanka mainly due to reckless driving, road safety has become a subject of national concern.
