Commercial Bank presents 125th IT Lab to St. Anne’s Wattala

The 125th IT laboratory donated by the Commercial Bank of Ceylon under its nation-wide corporate social responsibility program to promote IT literacy was formally inaugurated at St. Anne’s Church, Wattala recently with the participation of several distinguished personalities.
Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, Commercial Bank Chairman Dinesh Weerakkody, Commercial Bank Chief Operating Officer Jegan Durairatnam and St. Anne’s Church Parish Priest Rev. Basil Wickremesinghe were among those that attended the milestone event. The IT lab will be used by the children of St. Anne’s College. The Church also conducts computer classes for underprivileged children in the area, who will benefit from the donation. Commercial Bank’s IT Education program is designed to empower younger generations and the country to face the future with confidence with world-class knowledge. The program shares synergy with the bank’s vision of being the most technologically-advanced, innovative and customer-friendly financial services organisation in Sri Lanka. All computer laboratories donated by Commercial Bank are equipped with brand new computers with licensed software. The schools are also provided accessories such as computer tables, printers and chairs, and the bank provides assistance to maintain and upgrade these computer labs when necessary to ensure that the facilities benefit many batches of students. The program has to date benefitted more than 125,000 students in schools across the country.
