Cinnamon Lakeside supports World Environmental Day 2011 theme

This year’s World Environmental Day (WED) theme ‘Forests: Nature at Your Service’ underscores the intrinsic link between quality of life and the health of forests and forest ecosystems. It also supports this year’s UN International Year of Forests and deals with the pressure exerted on forests especially in densely populated areas where people cultivate on marginal lands and where overgrazing contributes to desertification.

To commemorate World Environmental Day, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo instituted a tree-planting project on Sunday, 5 June within the hotel’s premises in sync with the WED 2011 theme as well as the country’s drive to combat land-degradation and desertification.
