Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo’s children’s programme turns a happy shade of green this month with a Kiddies’ Eco Camp to mark World Environment Day which also took place in June. Kiddies’ Camp is a monthly programme hosted by the hotel where children aged twelve and under are treated to activities, entertainment and lip smacking goodies.
Kiddies’ Eco Camp offers fun and interactive activities aimed at instilling a sense of responsibility towards the environment in every child. Children who participated in the January Kiddies’ Camp – Zippy’s Picnic, are encouraged to bring along the plant that they potted five months ago. The Kiddies’ Camp Crew at the hotel will put the plants on display and at the end of the afternoon, the best tended plant will win an award.
Talented puppeteer and theatrical artiste Sulochana Dissanayake, gets interactive with the little Campers again, this time teaching them to make puppets out of recyclable material. The children are always encouraged to get creative with their projects, resulting in interesting creations and above all, in the children having a whale of a time.
Kids are guaranteed to enjoy the Litter Bug Relay and the Hole in the Bucket Game out at the Waterside, Cinnamon Lakeside’s garden venue by the Beira Lake where, weather permitting, Kiddies’ Camp takes place. Professional face painters will decorate the kids with body art in a design of their choice, whilst a bouncer will be available for the children to get their day’s dose of jumping jacks. A balloon craftsman will entertain the kids with magic balloon shapes too.
A lucky Camper will even take home a bicycle courtesy of Kiddies’ Camp sponsor, Tomahawk, who will display a range of bicycles for the winner to choose from. Few activities are more environmentally friendly than riding a bicycle!
The little Campers little tummies will have their fill of mini hamburgers, pizzas, French fries, hot dogs, finger sandwiches, pop corn, pasta, éclairs, brownies, cookies, ice cream and ribbon cake amongst other treats.
Kiddies’ Camp provides an ideal opportunity for parents of older children to enjoy some free time in the knowledge that their kids are in safe hands.
The Kiddies’ Eco Camp will take place on the 18th of June from 3.00pm to 6.00pm at the Waterside. Tickets for children below twelve are offered at Rs. 750++++ and at Rs. 950++++ for adults. For inquiries and reservations, the hotel is available on 2491016 or 2491998.
