The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has announced to grant a significant number of exemptions to students who have completed the B.Sc.
Accounting (Special) Degree Programme conducted by the Department of Accounting of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura (USJ) during the period 2001 to 2006.
Accounting graduates of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura are exempted from nine subjects of the CIMA Examinations. All five subjects at the Certificate Level, all three subjects at the Operational Level and one subject at Management Level; namely Financial Management. This exemption scheme is valid with immediate effect and the CIMA website www.cimaglobal.com provides the relevant details.
The Department of Accounting of USJ aims to groom accounting graduates with a professional orientation for the local and global market. The CIMA qualification endowed with a global perspective will pave the way for these accounting graduates to find employment in the global arena as well as in global firms operating in Sri Lanka.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to be signed between the Department of Accounting, USJ and CIMA shortly, will be of mutual benefit to both institutions and will strengthen further the links that exist already between them.
