CIC Agri Business recognised for uplifting farmers’ living standards

CIC Agri Businesses received an award for ‘uplifting the living standards of farmers’ at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Annual Award Ceremony to honour the Best Corporate Citizens held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel recently.



The Company’s CSR activities revolves around increasing the income levels of the farmers and adding value to the community and the environment in which it operates.

As such all CSR activities of CIC Agri Businesses are focused around the farming community and with special emphasis on uplifting the living standards of the rural farmers through education.  

During the last few years CIC Agri Businesses has continuously given Educational Scholarship mainly to children of farmers in the North Central, Province. Educational seminars titled ‘Danuma danaya’ are conducted in rural areas to educate Advance Level students in a bid to inculcate good, social values to the youth.

Popular and well known artists and university academics talk to students at these seminars.

Under the CSR theme ‘CIC Manussakama,’ CIC Agri Businesses also conducts the Annual Shoora Goviya competition to select the best young farmer. The competition has been a tremendous success and has been encouraging youth to take up to farming.

As part of its CSR Activities CIC Agri Businesses has also developed an exclusive website for farmers www.navagoviya.lk which recently won an international award.

The Company  is also credited with the production of an exclusive song for the farmer-titled Govi Geethaya which has today become a popular song and won several awards.

The efforts by CIC Agri Businesses  to uplift the living standards of the farmers will continue in the years to come as we work hand in hand with the  farmers of our land to make Sri Lanka a bountiful nation.
