Ceylinco Insurance-General recognised and handsomely rewarded its dynamic and dedicated sales team at the recently held Annual Sales Conference and Awards Ceremony 2010.
The glittering event showcased the company’s outstanding talent, rewarding its top performers who surmounted all obstacles, in order to provide their customers an unparalleled service throughout the year. The event was graced by the Insurance Ombudsman of Sri Lanka Dr. Wickrema Weerasooria.
The gala event, held under the theme: “When it comes to serving our customers nothing stands in our way”, was attended by over 1,300 sales personnel and senior members of the staff. Over 550 sales personnel received awards, accorded on stringent rewards criteria; the top achievers were categorised as Members, Certificate Members, and the Bronze, Silver and Gold categories, rising to the zenith, the much coveted Hall of Fame. Along with rewards based on these categories, seven members were recognised and welcomed into the prestigious Hall of Fame, of which two qualified for a brand new BMW car.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ajith Gunawardena, who in his speech paid a glowing tribute to his staff for their valiant efforts, also said “I thank the shareholders for the confidence placed in the company and its management, as well as the Governor of the Central Bank, the regulator, the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka, the relevant authorities, re-insurers and re-insurance brokers, agents and brokers, and all our loyal clients, without whose support and belief in us, we could not have achieved what we have achieved. I salute their loyalty and steadfastness”, he added.
Deputy Chief Executive Director Patrick Alwis, in his address said: “We achieved excellent results for 2010, due to the commitment, loyalty and team work of our staff, and we express our deep gratitude to all of them. Similarly, we are certain that the same commitment will be displayed in the years to come, taking the company to even greater heights.”
The Ceylinco Insurance-General team, recognised as the largest sales force in the industry, is dynamic and highly motivated, and able to deliver an outstanding level of service to customers. The team is backed by the widest network of branches in the insurance industry in Sri Lanka, making them the industry’s most well equipped team. Meanwhile, in keeping with the surge of economic activities, the company further expanded its branch network extensively during the year 2010.
In 2010, the overall premium income of the company stood at Rs.18 billion, to which the General Division contributed Rs.9.2 billion. The company’s profits also grew by 12%, recording a pre tax profit of Rs.934 million, while the consolidated profit after tax stood at an impressive Rs.1001.6 million, recording an increase of 44% over the previous year.
Moreover, Ceylinco Insurance was feted in 2010 as the People’s Insurance Company for the 5th successive year, whilst for the second consecutive year; the company bagged top honours, when it emerged the winner in the Insurance Sector, at the National Business Excellence Awards 2010, conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. Ceylinco Insurance remains the highest ranked insurance brand in the country, speaking volumes for its well grounded stability and strength.
