Cathay Pacific is expanding its codeshare arrangement with oneworld alliance partner Japan Airlines to cover more destinations within Japan.
Under the enhanced arrangement, Cathay Pacific’s CX code will be placed on selected Japan Airlines domestic flights between Haneda Airport in Tokyo and 10 Japanese cities - Asahikawa, Aomori, Hiroshima, Hakodate, Kochi, Kumamoto, Komatsu, Kagoshima, Kushiro and Obihiro - as well as between Tokyo’s Narita Airport and Sapporo, and between Osaka and Okinawa and Sapporo.
Tickets for the new codeshare services are already open for sale for travel commencing 31 October 2010, subject to government approval.
Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Tony Tyler said, “We are pleased to be able to finalise details of our cooperation with Japan Airlines just one month after announcing a codeshare agreement covering the two airlines’ services between Japan and Hong Kong. Japan is already a very popular destination for Hong Kong travellers and the expanded arrangement will make it even easier to travel to different cities within the country.”
In mid-September, Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines announced a codeshare arrangement under which Cathay Pacific flights between Hong Kong and Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo and Tokyo would carry the JL code, while Japan Airline’s flights on the Narita - Hong Kong and Haneda - Hong Kong routes would carry the CX code effective from 31 October.
