The finer facets of Belgian cuisine are now yours to indulge in as the Cinnamon Grand, in association with the Belgium Consulate and Sri Lankan Airlines, presents the Belgian Promotion at Cheers Pub.

The promotion will be held from 20 to 28 November. Choose from individually priced dishes for lunch and dinner, spanning starters, soups and mains in a cuisine that serves food of French quality in German quantities.

Belgian cuisine is widely regarded as a prime example of gourmandise cuisine, which has largely lost its original derogatory meaning of “gluttony” and has come to refer, more positively, to “the appreciation of good food”.

In Belgium this means that along with big portions and a certain unpretentiousness of presentation, the diner can expect a high standard of ingredients and preparation. To ensure this high standard will be upheld, a Belgian Chef will be flown down for the promotion.

Chef Filip Van de Venster, proprietor of popular gourmet restaurant ‘t Vensterke, brings his expertise to the Cinnamon Grand for this unique promotion. A Chevalier of the Belgian Truffle order, Chef Filip has over 10 years of experience in the industry and currently runs his own small restaurant serving a delightful range of gourmet dishes which he will draw from and replicate at the Belgian Promotion.

The Belgian Promotion menu comprises a selection of typical Belgian dishes with cold starters including dried ham with melon, cocktail of grey shrimps, pate with onion marmalade, raw fillet of beef (steak tartar) while warm starters range from ham rolls with chicory and mornay sauce, deep fried Dover sole with tartar sauce to croquettes of grey shrimps. Select from two appetising soups; green pea soup and mushroom soup.

Indulge in a selection of main dishes which include modha Flemish style (action station for serving), mussels nature (action station), pork meat balls with cherry sauce, chicken stew vol au vent and Flemish beef stew with palm beer.

Make sure you don’t fill yourself up since the best is saved for last! Try out the range of delectable Belgian desserts such as chocolate mousse dark and white, dame blanche (vanilla ice cream chocolate sauce and whipped cream), warm apple pie with cinnamon and cream, rice pudding and custard sugar and strawberries and whipped cream.
