For the third straight year, APL has been named Asian Container Shipping Line of the Year. The award was announced here tonight at the 12th annual Lloyd’s List Asia awards.
Singapore-based APL, the world’s fifth largest carrier, won from a field of finalists including Maersk Line and Emirates Shipping. The award was presented by Lloyd’s List, one of the oldest and best-known shipping industry newspapers.
“We’re gratified to be recognised with this honour again,” said APL President Eng Aik Meng. “To have won in 2008, 2009 and 2010 shows the passion our employees have for the shipping industry and our customers.”
An international panel of maritime leaders made the selection of Asia’s top carrier. The judges singled out APL for service, innovation and on-time performance in Asia.
APL was also a finalist for the Achievement in Environmental Protection Award. APL Logistics was a finalist for the Logistics Award.
APL is a global container shipping business offering more than 60 weekly services and more than 500 calls at more than 140 ports worldwide. It combines world-class intermodal operations with leading-edge IT and e-commerce. APL is a unit of Singapore-based Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), global shipping and logistics company.
