This week heralds the AGMs rush in June with nearly 50 listed companies scrambling to meet the best practices-deadline of holding the annual shareholder engagement before the expiry of three months of 31 March, financial year end.
For a shareholder with multiple holding of stakes the first two days of the week are relatively manageable with only three AGMs slated for Monday and five for Tuesday. But come Wednesday and certainly on Thursday it will be a herculean task. On Wednesday there will be 11 AGMs and 30 June Thursday, the last day of the month will see 24 AGMs. The latter in effect means three AGMs per business hour if one factors in a 9 to 5 office time. Worst is that there will be seven AGMs at the same time of 10 a.m. on Thursday; four AGMs each at 3.30 p.m. and 4 p.m.; three each at 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
In March the Daily FT highlighted the March AGMs season rush with concerns over clash of AGMs but come June there isn’t a breather for shareholders either.
