Imperial Builders, developers of the Destiny Mall and Residency and Destiny 2, signed an MoU with Nawaloka Construction Company recently, handing over all construction work related to Block C&D of the Slave Island redevelopment program.
Piling work for Block C&D was completed earlier this year and the superstructure work is currently underway. In keeping with a promise extended to the people of the area, Imperial Builders is not just committed to providing the residents of the area with housing but quality housing that will help uplift their lives in the process.
Commenting on the appointment of Nawaloka Construction, Imperial Builders Managing Director Naveed Lakhani stated: “We have assigned the construction work to a construction industry leader in order to ensure proper quality standards are maintained and the work is completed as per schedule so that the relocated families can move into their homes with peace of mind.”
Commenting on the MoU, Jayantha Dharmadasa added: “We are glad to engage with Imperial Builders on this development and we aim to deliver on time as always.”
In collaboration with the Urban Development Authority, Imperial Builders commenced work on a unique comprehensive plan in 2012 entitled ‘Slave Island Station Passage Redevelopment Program’.
The motive behind the initiative was to beautify the skyline of Colombo and its surrounding areas. This project is expected to cost over $ 120 million, with a total extent of 525 perches of land in the heart of Colombo to be redeveloped. Based in Slave Island, a prime commercial area of Colombo, Phase I of this project is set to change the lives and lifestyles of the former dwellers of the land by developing modified apartments for them with much improved living conditions.
For this purpose Imperial Builders Ltd. has commenced construction of modern apartments Block C&D. The relocation will be laid on the demarcated Railway Land where two individual blocks of multiple G+12 storeys will be constructed with all facilities.
The relocation project’s construction work commenced in January 2013. Blocks A and B, built for the Railway Authority, are complete. The railway authority employees are currently occupying the premises.
Piling and floor 5 of the superstructure for the Slave Island residents’ apartments Blocks C and D are complete currently with construction of these two buildings scheduled to be completed by 2017.
