Demonstrating its commitment to the nation’s engineering and construction field, UltraTech Cement Ltd. actively participated at the recently-concluded 8th International Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management 2017’, which was held in Kandy.
The cement giant was represented by UltraTech Cement Lanka Senior General Manager – Marketing and Technical Sandeep Holey, who shared UltraTech Cement’s research findings at the conference, yet again demonstrating the company’s thought leadership stature in the industry.
The objective of the conference was to provide a forum for scientists and researchers to share recent progress in research and development, and to report implementation of new tools and technologies in practical applications. The three-day conference featured presentations by authors of all accepted papers as well as keynote lecturers. Highly engaging general and plenary sessions were accompanied by workshops and technical sessions. The accepted papers were published in a special volume of proceedings with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN).

Holey presented research findings in Session 2 at the conference. The session was conducted by Prof. Riadh Al-Mahaidi (Swinburne University Melbourne - Australia) and Dr. J.C.P.H. Gamage. The research paper presented by Holey was titled ‘Analysis of Available Portland Fly-Ash Cement in Sri Lanka and its Implications in Construction Industry’ and co-authored with Ananda Silva, AGM, technical and Buddhika Abeyasekara, Chemist. The paper analyses the performance of PFC cement and the role it can play in the crucial requirement of industry on durable and long-lasting structures.
