Walkers CML Properties Ltd., a subsidiary of MTD Walkers PLC, together with the Ministry of Public Administration and Management and the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka, launched its newest affordable housing project, ‘Heritage Valley’ in Kandy recently.
Minister of Public Administration and ManagementRanjith Madduma Bandara laid the foundation stone last week in Kundasale, Kandy to mark the commencement of construction of the housing project. Also present at the occasion wereCabinet Minister for Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, Minister for City Planning and Water SupplyRauff Hakeem, Governor of Central ProvinceNiluka Ekanayake,District Secretary of the Kandy District Secretariat H.M.P.Hitisekera, MTD Walkers PLC Executive Deputy Chairman Jehan Amaratunga, Walkers CML PropertiesLtd. CEO Lalinda Kalubowila, Provincial Councilors, senior management of MTD Walkers PLC, members of the media, civil society representatives and the general public.
“We are proud to be a part of a landmark project in this historic city and we hope to work with the community and provide employment opportunities to its residents,” saidWalkers CML Properties Ltd. Sales and Marketing Manager Ajith Dharmathilakaspeaking at the opening ceremony. He added: “We look forward to continued support from the Ministry of Public Administration and Management and Board of Investment in Sri Lanka as we look at building similar housing projects in other areas in Sri Lanka.”
Situated in Kundasale, Heritage Valley comes under the ‘NilaSevana’ public servants housing project which aims to construct 25,000 affordable housing units with public sector employees given preferred pricing.
Situated 10 km from the Kandy town and in close proximity to Government offices, public transport and hospitals, the project offers many modern facilities including swimming pool, gymnasium, health care center, rooftop garden and jogging tracks.
