UTE reaches for the skies delivering country’s tallest JLG Ultra Boom Lift for SAGT

United Tractor & Equipment Ltd. (UTE) recently commissioned a JLG 1200 SJP Ultra series articulating boom lift, for its client South Asia Gateway Terminals Ltd., (SAGT). This is the largest self-propelled telescopic boom and the tallest aerial work platform currently available in the country.

This JLG ultra series articulating boom lift can reach a maximum height of 120 feet and will be used to carry out maintenance work on gantry cranes at SAGT in the Port of Colombo. SAGT offers the international container shipping community a competitive world class service with best in class quayside efficiency on vessels.

Manufactured in the USA, JLG is recognised as the preferred supplier of equipment to the maritime industry. The machine was handed over to SAGT officials during the recently concluded Construct 2015 exhibition where members of the public also had an opportunity to view this powerful machine. JLG Ultra series booms are made of 100,000 psi steel and are 40% stronger than the competition. The machines have the ability to lift 1,000 pounds, making them one of the most powerful in the industry. 

This unit was the star attraction at this year’s Construct exhibition due to its sheer height. At its full elevation the work platform can easily reach the top floor of a 12 story building. Automatic platform levelling feature provides operator comfort even at 120 feet.
